Fit150 Challenge

7,000 Step Challenge

Starting Monday, October 3rd ending Tuesday, November 1st

Many experts agree that the recommended steps per day for older adults is 7,000-10,000. And even though we know walking daily is good for us, here is a breakdown of how it benefits our bodies, our minds, and even our relationships.

The Benefits of Walking Daily

  • Improve circulation, lower blood pressure and strengthen the heart muscle
  • Burn calories and help manage body weight
  • Ease joint pain and reduce lower back pain by strengthening core muscles
  • Strengthen bones and help fight osteoporosis
  • Improve balance and coordination, reducing the risk of falling
  • Boost your immune system
  • Improve your mood, reducing anxiety and depression
  • Improve cognitive health

We invite you to take the 7,000 step challenge with us.

How does it work?

  • Participants must complete 7,000 steps per day, 49,000 cumulative for the week, for a 30 day period using a tracking device such as a fit bit, smart phone health app, pedometer or any fitness app that records your steps.
  • Log sheets will be at The Fitness Desk for you to record your steps. Or you may record your steps on a excel spreadsheet that we will provide.
  • All participants are on the honor system.
